🚀 Let's launch a business in 3 days!

If you’re dreaming of launching a project, one thing's for sure—waiting for the “perfect” time is a surefire way to make it never happen.

You could spend years debating ideas, and still end up going nowhere. Or, you could just dive in, test a few things, and gain real experience. Often, what doesn’t work is the clearest guide toward what does.

Today, we’re doing a one-day launch.

Our project? A paid online learning community for youth interested in coding.

Ready? Let's dive in.

But FIRST

Step 1: Research Your Market

Start by figuring out what other online coding communities are doing. Spend a quick 30 minutes on:

  • Pricing: Look at how much they’re charging. Is it monthly or a one-time fee?
  • Features: Notice what stands out—like live coding sessions, guest speakers, or Q&A support.
  • Target Group: Pay attention to who they’re marketing to—are they aiming at total beginners or more advanced teens?

Then, hop onto Reddit or Twitter. You’ll find tons of insights from community members about what they like and dislike about current platforms. Get this intel and move on.

Step 2: Outline Your Offer

You don’t need a full business plan to get started.

For now, focus on answering one simple question: What is the single best thing you want members to gain?

For example:

  • Goal: Teach teens to build their first web app in under 4 weeks.
  • Value Proposition: “Become part of a coding community where you’ll learn to build real-world apps alongside other passionate teens.”

This is your “foot in the door.” Make it simple but exciting enough to get a “yes” from your potential first members.

Also, sketch out the essentials for a one-day launch.

  • Define your core feature: What will people get from joining your community? (e.g., live coding sessions, recorded tutorials, peer support, and more).

Tip: Copy the basics from competitor, be sure to include a few special features unique to your community

  • Outline three pricing tiers to cover beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. This way, potential members feel like they have a choice.

Tip: People are more likely to go for a mid-range option when given three choices.

Step 3: Build Your Core Team

Now it’s time to actually make the product... Only one problem.

We’re brand new to this. Even if we learn how to build and execute the coding curriculum, we’re not going to move fast enough - not in 3 days at least. So we have another idea:

Can we collaborate with someone with experience?

  • Look in your network: Post a quick call for help on LinkedIn or Instagram — you might find friends or acquaintances with the skills you need.
  • Use online communities: Coding forums, Reddit, or existing youth coding communities are great for finding instructors, existing curriculums, and team members in general.
  • Make an offer they can't refuse: Reach out with a clear, exciting vision of your community’s purpose. Highlight the chance to make an impact and split the earnings with them.

Even for a three-day launch, a small team can help make the experience more professional and memorable for members.

Step 4: Test Your Offer

Now it’s time to attract your audience. Post a simple, inviting message on your socials, in relevant coding forums, or in school groups if you’re connected to them.

Example post: “Launching an online coding community for teens today! Limited spots open for live coding tutorials, group projects, and mentorship. DM to join!”

Be sure to include a list of your features in the offering.

Email blast to friends or school contacts who might be interested or know others who are, and offer the first month at a discount to get initial sign-ups.

Think about who may influence potential customers' decision. Parents, clubs, tutors...hit them up too.

You may get crickets on a few messages, but keep going—someone will show interest, and that’s your green light.

Step 5: Choose a Platform and Go Live

You don’t need your own platform to get started. Use existing tools that are free and quick to set up:

Invite your initial members and set a date for your first session.

Power Up & Launch!

Now you’ve got a real project on your hands—a space that’s already helping people learn. From here, you can decide if you want to grow it, refine it, or pivot to something different. The point is, you started, you took action, and you’ve gained more than just ideas.

So if you’re holding back because you’re not “ready” yet, let this be the push you need. You don’t have to be perfect, just willing to test, learn, and repeat.

Action > Thinking every single time.

PS. This summer, we are going to tackle pressing global issues and drive innovation in regions (such as your own community) where it is needed the most. Want in?

We run a summer cohort for ambitious youth (high school and undergrads) to work directly with world-class founders while learning from Silicon Valley leaders.

You can also explore purposeful opportunities through our Impact Internship Opportunities Database.

It’s that time of year again—goal-setting season. But honestly, I’ve never found it to be all that effective in helping me make decisions or take action. For example, I used to set a goal to seek out meaningful experiences and accelerate my personal growth, but I always ended up falling short because I lacked clarity. I didn’t have a clear roadmap for how to actually achieve that growth, how to become a person of depth and substance? It felt like setting goals was just wishful thinking,...
