U.S. Universities With The Best Pay For New Graduates — Harvard and Yale didn’t make the list

Many factors determine how much money you’ll earn after college.

But where you go to school may also play an important role.

If your goal after college is to earn the highest possible salary, Samuel Merritt University has the best early career salary prospects in the country for graduates with a bachelor degree according to a Forbes ranking article.

The ranking is determined using Payscale data collected in 2021- halfway through the first five years of new grad’s career.

Here are the 8 schools whose new grads are earning the most

1. Samuel Merritt University

Private university focusing on health sciences in Oakland, California and it offers courses such as nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy and podiatric medicine.

2. Harvey Mudd College

Private institution located in Claremont, California, it is strongly focused on science and engineering.

3. MIT

Private institution with renowned for its role in the development of many areas of modern technology and science. Located in Cambridge, Massachusetts

4. California Institute of Technology

Private research university in Pasadena, California. The university is responsible for many modern scientific advancements and is among a small group of institutes of technology in the United States which are strongly devoted to the instruction of pure and applied sciences.

5. Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science

Private university in Willowbrook, California, focused on health sciences.

6. United States Merchant Marine Academy

United States service academy in Kings Point, New York. It trains its midshipmen to serve as officers in the United States Merchant Marine,

7. Stanford University

Private research university in Stanford, California. One of the world’s leading research and teaching institutions. Catalyzing discovery, accelerating solutions, sustaining life on Earth, and preparing Citizens and Leaders

8. Webb Institute

Private college focused on engineering and located in Glen Cove, New York. Each graduate of Webb Institute earns a Bachelor of Science degree in naval architecture and marine engineering.

It is interesting to note that:

Highest median alumni salaries more often go to students who attended small colleges with strong engineering programs.

The vast majority of institutions at the top of Payscale’s list have one major thing in common - they churn out a lot of engineers and other workers with valuable STEM qualifications.

Also worth keeping in mind: Even if your school of choice reports high earnings among former students, there are no guarantees you’ll land a job right out of school or that it will pay as much as you hope.

PS. Broadening your horizon to purposeful opportunities- from circular economy to fintech for good, that is the mission of OCE.

It’s always the things you overlook We’ve all been fooled by it at least once…Shiny Object Syndrome. Every now and then, we are tempted by the glamorous stuff around us such as jobs and businesses. We choose our careers and biz to build based on how “glamorous” they look on IG. I should know…I made that mistake, too. My first idea of a possible business was in the fancy world of fashion and ecommerce – hence my decision to join Walmart Ecommerce in their fashion division after graduation....
